A key executive management team member, Karl has been with ADVANCED Motion Controls (AMC) for 16 years and currently leads their business development expansion and overall marketing efforts.   He also continues to provide strategic direction for engineering and product development.  His extensive product and industry knowledge comes from 35 years of industrial automation experience with logic systems, sensing technologies and motion control, including being in the Space Shuttle program as an officer in the USAF.

Karl interacts and consults with many research institutions, industry leading component supplying and robotics companies to help them improve performance for their end products or services.  In fact, formulating AMC’s of the ‘University Outreach’ program, he has assisted hundreds of projects from top educational institutions like Carnegie-Mellon’s ‘Red Team’, Ohio State University’s ‘Birt’, University of Pennsylvania’s ‘X-RHex’ and many, many others.

Karl’s education includes a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering ‘83, North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND and a Master of Science in Computer Science ‘87, West Coast University, Santa Barbara, CA.  He has also spent time as a graduate assistant and conducted personal research developing algorithms for artificially intelligent identification systems using predictive pattern recognition techniques.  Karl has written many technical articles and given presentations at conferences on a variety of industrial automation subjects.

Currently, Karl is members of the Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE) community.  He founded and became the Past Chairman of the Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) chapter in the Buenaventura Section of IEEE’s Region 6.  He was also selected and serving on the Advisory Council for the Computer Science Department / Robotics Initiative at California State University at Channel Islands as well as a Board Member for TruTech Specialty Motors.
